Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) has announced that the company will significantly improve intra-region signaling connectivity in Asia with the integration of two additional signalling transfer points in Mumbai and New Delhi to its global SS7/C7 network. The new STPs will enable Asian mobile operators to locally connect and utilize the VSNL signalling connect control part (SCCP) service to transport roaming and SMS traffic throughout the globe.
VSNL, the sole SCCP provider to operate STPs in Asia, Europe and North America, is currently the only International SS7/C7 gateway provider (IGP) with a true global physical presence. The addition of the Mumbai and New Delhi STPs enables VSNL to efficiently manage the routing of traffic without the need to unnecessarily route traffic across regions while reducing the number of points of failure.
VSNL currently has six signalling transfer points spanning three continents. The newly launched STPs will provide localized intelligent routing, reporting and troubleshooting to a growing list of operators throughout Asia.
