Reliance Communications and Microsoft have announced a strategic partnership to deliver a highly connected, personalized TV experience to consumers in India though Reliance’s IPTV service, which will be powered by the award-winning microsoft Mediaroom Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) software platform.
The announcement was made by Anil D Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Communications, and Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, at a press event in Mumbai, India. Reliance Communications shall have the exclusive deployment right for the platform in India.
Under erstwhile Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Communications was building its own IPTV platform but it is now evident that the project has been abandoned.
However, in the United States its widely speculated on Wall Street that, Apple is all set to capture the action in American Living Room with their world class products. Lets see how the passionate folks at Redmond perform in this battle.
Reliance communications is still struggling to offer good broadband services, wonder how good their IPTV will be especially when it is a Microsoft software powering it 🙂 Dish TV seem to be far more matured than empty IPTV and Triple play promises.
