Not just the content on your website, but NIXI wants domains in localized languages as well. This means the .In domains names that link to the Vernacular content will also have a Vernacular name 🙂 Really ? Yes That’s what NIXI and and C-DAC are testing on a pilot basis.
IT Ministry offcials said,
While there are websites with Indian language content, one is yet to see a web address in Hindi. We are working on a mechanism to enable a user to have his domain name in the language of his choice.
Looks like someone in the Indian IT Ministry is deeply influenced by the success of Chinese local Internet Model. They are also working on building a software that will act as a search engine seamlessly running across all the prominent Indian language scripts. Are Google and Yahoo! listening ?
