Last month, goBroadband reported about the launch of BSNL’s MultiService – IPTV in Pune. It is reliably learnt that BSNL will roll out this service in different cities by Mid-2007 and hopes to end the year with 300,000 subscribers.
BSNL is negotiating with various TV channels and content providers. BSNL officials have hinted that the service will be available in pre-paid and post-paid segment. The operator hopes to generate a new revenue source, as the growth of its fixed-line revenues remains stagnant and are under increasing threat from private telecom players who are planning to make local calls FREE.
If you have had a chance to witness IPTV services by either MTNL in Mumbai or Delhi or BSNL in Pune, kindly share your thoughts in the comment or leave your e-mail, i’ll contact you.
