My reliable sources tell that, American Telecom equipment manufacturer, Motorola Inc has moved to the Delhi High Court against BSNL’s decision of disqualifying them from $4 Billion 3G GSM global tender. Earlier yesterday, BSNL director, Mr Dube disclosed that Motorola and ZTE were disqualified leaving Nokia, Ericsson and Siemens in the race.
If you can go back 12 years in Indian telecom history, Sunil Bharti Mittal had won all the four mobile licenses for metros, but then the Minister in-charge, late Shri. Rajesh Pilot didn’t want Mittal to operate and disqualified him in 3 metros finally in the court of Justice, Mittal got Delhi circle. So not sure who has vested interest here against Motorola this time or it is also possible that Motorola could not have met the specifications stated by BSNL.
