State owned BSNL which deployed a multilingual disastser alert system for mobile subscribers have announced the availability of new Java application that will enable you to send SMS in any Indian language.
The multilingual SMS application is developed by Bangalore / Bengalooru based Geneva Technologies. This is being offered at no additional cost to BSNL customers and is likely to increase SMS traffic on BSNL network as BSNL has a huge rural subscriber base where local language rules.
Requirements for Multilingual SMS:
Java enabled Handset with MIPD 2. GPRS enabled SIM and facility to download the application.
At the time this article is being written the Java application was not available on BSNL’s WAP portal. Contact your customer service if you are interested in the same or your local mobile vendor who will install the application locally.
